Dog Parkour
Throughout this workshop we will go over the basics of this activity along with the safety considerations. Teams will focus on learning 6 foundational behaviours – Two On, Four On, Under, In, Around and Balance – that they can continue to build off of while enjoying this activity out on walks! This workshop will be a combination of group instruction and demonstration; along with plenty of time for each team to practice each skill and get one on one tips and tricks.
Dogs should be comfortable working around other dogs. Like many activities there is specific gear required. Teams should come with a back clip harness, 6 ft leash, and a large selection of their dogs favorite bite sized treats – easily accessible in a treat pouch or pocket. Any back clip harness will work but we suggest the Blue-9’s Balance Harness or RC’s Momentum Harness.
Canine Good Citizen Prep
This class is designed to prepare the handler and dog to be successful in the Canadian Kennel Club Canine Good Neighbour Program. The Canine Good Neighbour Program is a 12-step test, that encourages owners to have a better and richer relationship with their dogs. It is often used as the basis for testing dogs and their handlers to volunteer as Therapy Dog Teams.
No choke collars, prong collars, or flexi leashes in the classroom. You will need a mat for your dog to lie on, bite sized tasty treats and a regular flat collar or harness with a 4 or 6 foot leash
